Tallahassee, Fla. August 08, 2017 — Liz Dudek, Director of Health Care Affairs in the Tallahassee office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., provided a Florida Legislative Update at the Florida Assisted Living Association Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida. Dudek briefed the association on relevant legislation that was considered by the Florida Legislature during the 2017 session, provided a look ahead to the quickly approaching 2018 session and shared insights into the purpose and benefits of lobbying.
Dudek provided a similar update during LeadingAge Florida’s 54th Annual Convention & Exposition in Orlando, Florida, last month. Topics discussed included Florida’s Certificate of Need program, the Nursing Home Prospective Payment System (PPS) plan, and increased oversight of continuing care retirement communities, among other hot topics recently considered by the Florida Legislature that affect the elder care organizations.
Dudek’s career in Florida’s state government spanned over 40 years across a variety of senior management positions including Secretary of the Agency for Health Care Administration and Deputy Secretary of Health Quality Assurance. As Secretary, Dudek oversaw one of the largest Medicaid programs in the nation. Under her administration, the Agency successfully implemented the Statewide Medicaid Managed Care program and the establishment of the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse. Dudek has worked extensively with health care facilities, providers, and insurers. As a leader in health care regulation and insurance, her distinctive knowledge and experience give her unmatched insight into the needs of clients.
